Boram CHOI
Boram works across painting and material-based practices, exploring labor, displacement, transformation, and hybridity. Materials such as frayed fabric, woven straw, clay, and tangled threads carry traces of manual gestures, repetitive labor, and the industrialized world. By displacing and reassembling these materials, she brings together everyday gestures, forms of labor, and intercultural experiences, revealing the frictions that emerge between them.
Her practice seeks to loosen fixed structures and categories while tracing shifting positions of bodies, materials, and relations. Carrying traces of labor and movement, these displaced materials form a fluid cartography of an in-between state that resists fixed definitions and boundaries.
